Recently, Microsoft and its hardware partners announced that they’ll soon push out a new wave of cheap Windows devices. We find out that this devices will be possible thanks to a new edition of Windows 8.1 that it will be available for OEMs at a very lower price, or maybe even for free.
This new version will be called Windows 8.1 with Bing, but yet we still don’t know the differences between the new one and the actual version. Patrick LeBlanc said: “Windows 8.1 with Bing provides all the same great experiences that Windows 8.1 offers with the Windows 8.1 Update, and comes with Bing as the default search engine within Internet Explorer”.
According to some sources, it’s seems that this new version it’s just a licensing option for OEMs. These licenses will be offered at a lower price and this means we expect cheap Windows Phone devices in the future. Also, some of these devices, mostly tablets, will come with Office or a one-year subscription to Office 365.
