Microsoft has a new patent application that redefines the hinge of the device’s kickstand. The official sketches show that the Surface hinge stops at two locations, allowing the device to be propped up at different angles, not just the 22 degrees (or so) of the first model. We’ve heard there are 3 versions in the making: a Mini Surface, Surface Pro 2 and Surface 2 with Win RT.
I can’t really say if the Surface Mini will include a kickstand, since it would make it pretty thick, which is not sexy for a 7 or 8 inch tablet. The new hinge sounds interesting and I can’t wait to see if Microsoft finally had the courage to integrate a Kinect camera on the Surface 2…
