As you might know already, in October we’ll have a lot of launches from the smartphone world, but there will also be events associated with PC and tablet releases. Google has plans to unveil a Chromebook tablet or laptop on October 9th, and now we learn that Microsoft is preparing something similar.
Today from a leaked press invitation we get to know that Microsoft has scheduled a press event on October 16th, a day when the company will go “back to black”. It’s an allusion to the black color that Microsoft will use for a couple of new devices that will be announced next.
According to rumors it seems that we will get a Surface Laptop 2 and a Surface Pro 6 on October 16th, both of which will be available on black. We also find that they will not opt for modern USB-C ports and that Microsoft will offer black shade only on high-end configurations.
As for the specs, the-entry level Surface Laptop 2 will bring an Intel Core i5 CPU, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The cheapset Surface Pro 6 will pack an Intel Core M3 chipset with 4 GB RAM on board. Both products will run Windows 10 S, but users will be able to upgrade free to the Home version.
