Microsoft has just debuted an iPad trade-in program, that allows people to trade in their iPads and get a $200 gift card. The offer only applies to a limited time frame and I have to say I’m curious how Apple feels about this…

The gift card you’ll receive can be used for purchasing a Microsoft Surface or other products available on the Microsoft Store. The offer started on September 5th actually and it will be available until October 27 2013. The fine print says that the deal is available in select Microsoft retail stores in the US, with Puerto Rico also included and Canada, too.

The iPads that enter the promotion are the iPad 2, 3 and 4, but those models must be “gently used”. Best Buy had its own $200 iPad trade in promotion this summer, so it’s no surprise to see other companies adopting it. Will Apple find a way to stop this? It’s not like they’re losing anything, aside from potential downloaders of apps.
