The JDTab J01 tablet we covered a few days ago was very interesting for us, so we decided to dig a little deeper and find some info about it. Turns out that the device is made by Meizu and runs a special flavour of Flyme OS. Today we also get some hands on shots of the machine, for you all to see.
This model stands out through its Harman Kardon acoustics, particularly now that Samsung has purchased Harman. Of course, that doesn’t meant its partnerships are automatically dissolved or anything like that. Just look at the Huawei MediaPad M3 and its similar acoustics and you’ll get an idea of what to expect on the JDTab S01.
The tablet has dual speakers at the bottom, an USB Type C port and a slim metal design, with rounded edges. It also feels very wide and somehow brings a bit of the Meizu identity to the table, since their phones are also pretty wide usually. Keep in mind that Meizu has yet to launch a tablet, so making one as an OEM for the JingDong store is a first step towards making its own model.
What resulted is a 7.9 incher with a “Retina” resolution and JD provides preinstalled content, music videos, a music service and access to 200k free eBooks. Priced at $215, this product comes on January 10. I’m curious to see if the Harman system lets it beat 100 decibels.
