MasterImage is a company looking for partners to implement their cool glasses-free 3D displays on various devices. The screen they produce measure 4.3, 7 and 10 inch in size, fitting the most popular smartphone and tablet formats out on the market right now.
The company was present at Computex 2011, showing off those 3D goodies, that look brilliant, even without glasses. The 7 and 4.3 inch panels support 800 x 480 pixel resolutions, but there’s also a 7 inch 1280 x 800 pixel version in the works right now and it could enter production by the year end. The parallax barrier that creates the autostereoscopic effect only adds a millimeter to the screen’s thickness, so nothing big to worry about.
The other problem is that the resolution will be halved in vertical display: reaching a mere 400 x 480 when the device is turned 90 degrees. MasterImage is discussing partnership with a bunch of manufactures of smartphones and tablets, so they’re an interesting name to keep track of.
