Lenovo is a bigger brand than we’d expect, since the company is China’s largest PC vendor, so it was bound to have a slate matching its fame. Yes, this is the LePad tablet we’re talking about, an upcoming iPad rival, that was recently detailed by The Wall Street Journal. Sadly, there’s no info on pricing, OS, screen size and other such details.

The Chinese brand is the latest to join great names like Samsung, Dell and RIM as they reach out into the tablet segment, through the Galaxy Tab, Streak and PlayBook respectively, trying to defeat Apple. Strategy Analytics claims that the iPad already has a 96% market share of the tablet segment in Q3 2010, so the battle will be very, very tough.

Over the last 3 months, Apple shipped 4.4 million tablets, while Juniper Research predicts a bright future for tablet devices, supposed to reach 81 million by 2015. More and more companies will join the market, most of them aiming to get an iPad rival based on Android out. Let’s see how Lenovo does first…
