JXD S908 Venus is a budget slate with some very appealing specs, that include a Retina Display and an Allwinner CPU. JXD is famous for its gaming consoles that mimic the design of the PSP, but also for low cost Android slates.

The latest model is the JXD S908 Venus, that’s already up for preorder in China for about $200. Just like many other Chinese slates, the device packs an aluminum case and inside we find a quad core Allwinner A31 1 GHz processor and SGX544MP2 GPU. There’s also 2 GB of RAM DDR3, 16 GB of storage, a microSD card slot (32 GB max) and a Retina 9.7 inch display.

The screen resolution is 2048 x 1536 pixels and this is a 10 point multitouch display with 264 ppi pixel density. JXD S908 Venus incorporates a HDMI port, a microUSB 2.0 OTG and audio jack. Finally, there’s an 8000 mAh battery inside at the back a 5 megapixel cam, while upfront there’s a 2 megapixel camera. This slate runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and measures 9.6 mm in thickness.
