The usual Chinese case designers have rushed to create iPad 3 cases ahead of time and these products have now leaked on the web. You can see them below, but take a cautious approach here, since we know what happened when some companies decided to make cases for the “4 inch iPhone 5”: they got stuck with thousands of useless units…
Case maker Chinee from China has already started selling cases for a device they call the iPad 2S, which will possibly be the name of the new slate from Apple. They speculated that since the iPhone 4 was followed by the 4S, why not go the same route with the tablet, right? Previous iPad 3 rumors also point towards that, although the name iPad 2 HD certainly has a ring to it and might be one of the options. And now, the usual rumors about the new iPad, generated by these cases include a design similar to the previous Apple tablet, but a bit thicker.
The iPad 3 is expected to look just like the iPad 2, except for the waistline, Retina Display inclusion and maybe a camera and CPU bump. The difference in thickness is expected to be a mere 1mm from the iPad 2’s form factor, so it’s nothing to worry about. Honestly, I was expecting a thinner tablet here, considering that Toshiba is breaking records with its slate that’s only a bit over 7mm in thickness, but we’ll see. I also expect to see Siri and LTE on this new device.
