Huawei is back with a sleek, productivity-focused upgrade to its high-end tablet lineup. The newly unveiled MatePad Pro 12.2 (2025) builds on last year’s model but pushes things forward with a cutting-edge PaperMatte display, a beefy battery, and specs aimed squarely at creative pros and power users. And yes, it’s finally going global—unlike some of Huawei’s recent hardware.

At the heart of the new MatePad Pro is a 12.2-inch Tandem OLED panel layered beneath Huawei’s PaperMatte tech, which promises dramatically reduced glare and reflections—perfect for bright environments or long creative sessions. The screen packs a 2800 x 1840 resolution, hits a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, and covers the P3 color gamut, making it a serious contender for photo editing and media consumption.

Despite the tech-packed display, Huawei has kept things impressively light and thin—just 5.5mm thick and 508g in weight. Powering everything is a 10,100 mAh battery with 100W wired charging, putting it at the top of the charging game for tablets.

Huawei is as coy as ever about what’s running inside. While there’s no official word on the chipset, it’s likely powered by a variant of the in-house Kirin 9000S, much like the larger MatePad Pro 13.2. What is confirmed: 12GB of RAM, and either 256GB or 512GB of storage depending on the model.

Out of the box, the MatePad Pro 12.2 runs HarmonyOS 4.3 for international users. There’s no China launch yet, which means no confirmation on whether it supports the upcoming HarmonyOS NEXT platform.

Surprisingly for a tablet, Huawei has doubled down on imaging. There’s a 50MP main shooter and an 8MP ultrawide around the back, plus an 8MP selfie cam up front. Video tops out at 4K30, which should be plenty for conference calls or on-the-go content capture. You also get quad speakers with Huawei Sound, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Price, colors, and availability

The MatePad Pro 12.2 lands in Green and Black, and is priced at €849.99 for the 12/256GB version. But here’s the catch—the PaperMatte display is exclusive to the top-tier 12/512GB variant, which will set you back €999.99 or £899.99 in the UK. Sales begin tomorrow across Europe.
