Android 4.4 KitKat was announced half a day ago and there’s already a solid list of devices that will get this update, plus some expectations of dates when the software arrives. We’ve got HTC, ASUs and Samsung models listed, as well as Motorola units.
For starters, HTC One will get Android 4.4 within 90 days and the HTC One Google Play Edition will get it in about 2 weeks. Then come the Motorola Droid Ultra, Maxx, Mini and Moto X units, that have been confirmed for update, but without a specific timeline. The Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 are said to get KitKat over the coming weeks, just like the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition.
By the way, the Galaxy Nexus will not receive Android 4.4, since it passes the 18 month window that Google applies for its Nexus releases. I expect the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy tablets to take forever in updating to this release, in the pure Samsung tradition, which is a shame. If you allow me to speculate, these devices may get KitKat in 2014.
