Believe it or not, Hasbro has finally awaken and realized the ASUS is using the name Transformer Prime without licensing it. As you know, Hasbro is responsible with the Transformers animation, movies, action figures and more, so their duty is to preserve the likes of Optimus Prime and Megatron intact, or at least their image. That’s why they’re suing ASUS…

The Taiwanese company is supposedly using the Transformer Prime name (derived from the Autobot leader Optimus Prime apparently) to capitalize on the popularity of the robots that transform into cars and viceversa. The toy company owns trademarks for the word “Transformers” and “Transformers Prime”, that’s just sad for ASUS, since they’re using this for their first quad core tablet. The main problem here is that Hasbro has a line of Transformer video games and accessories for PC and the Xbox 360, so at some point the two lines of products meet…

Somehow, Hasbro thinks that some people will actually believe that the ASUS Transformer Prime is somehow endorsed by them and that the device has something to do with the Autobots, silly as that may seem… I wouldn’t want those people to be out there buying my tablets if I were ASUS, I can tell you that much…
