Through a new report released by Digitimes Research, today we get to know that the global tablet shipments are expected to reach 63.4 million units in the third quarter of 2014, with just 1% growth rate from a year ago, a thing that shows the fact that the market has entered the maturity phase earlier than expected.
Also, we get to know that shipments of iPad and white-box tablets were also low in third quarter, mostly because to the delay in iPad’s Air 2 shipments. This quarter, the number of iPad tablets sold totaled 15 million with a 6.4% raise from the same period of last year, while the shipments of white-box tablets reached 26.2 million units.
With this report, Digitimes unveils that Samsung Electronics has been lowering its shipment target for 2015 as the lack of models for the 2nd half of the year and its conservative pricing strategy. Getting to Taiwanese tablet vendor, we find out that a total of 23.13 million tablets were shipped this quarter, accounting for 62.2% of global shipments.
