There’s a segment of tablets out there that many of us tend to neglect. I’m talking about the rugged tablets, like the Getac model shown below. This device is meant to work in dangerous and dirty environments, like an oil rig or something like that.

This product is actually called the Getac Z710 and it comes with Android 4.1 and a 7 inch 1024 x 600 pixel resolution display, that supports input with gloves. It also has a CMOS barcode scanner, HF RFID reader and a 5 megapixel camera. There’s also a processing system that protects your data with extra security.

Z710 is up for preorder right now, at a price tag of about $2299 and you expect it to start shipping in July. The device is certified with the ATEX Zone II/22 standard, which means it can work in explosive environments, like mines, oil rigs, petrol tanks and stuff like that.
