It appears there’s another French company making a tablet, aside from Archos. This one is called Thomson and they’re known for making other devices and appliances and even TV sets, if I’m not mistaking. And then there’s their first tablet, the Primo 8, shown below.
The device is priced at 140 euros and relies on a dual core Cortex A9 CPU and 1 GB of RAM. The slate is made in China and probably only rebranded by the French company. It runs Android 4.1.1 and adopts an 8 inch display with a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. The CPU inside is an Amlogic AML8726-MX clocked at 1.2 GHz and we’ve also got a Mali 400 MP GPU.
There’s 1 GB of RAM on board and your choice between 4, 8 and 16 GB of storage. The microSD card slot offers support for an extra 32 GB. There’s a 0.3 MP webcam here, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, mini HDMI and a 4700 mAh battery among the specs. The whole thing measures 11 mm in thickness and you can see the plasticky case in the pictures here.
Over the past months we’ve also heard about tablets from Italy and Germany, so Europe is moving up in the slate world it appears.
