Mozilla’s Firefox OS has managed to attract a greater deal of manufacturers than initially anticipated, including Sony and ZTE that have announced future devices based on the new OS. Still it looks like Chinese manufacturer Foxconn beat them to the punch and launched its first Firefox OS tablet.
Foxconn’s first Firefox OS tablet has been announced during a press conference in Taiwan where Mozilla was also present to talk about the collaboration with the manufacturer. Foxconn and Mozilla will release further devices running on optimized software a result of the collaboration between the two.
The Chinese manufacturer’s future plans concern another 4 devices, the tablet not included that may be announced later this yer. Details regarding pricing and availability have not been released, though it is well known that Mozilla has aimed the OS at low to mid level devices. In terms of hardware specs and given the low resources demand of the OS the Foxconn tablet should not impress.
