For those of you who are not familiar with Tizen, you need to know that it’s a mobile OS developed by Samsung and Intel. For Samsung, Tizen will most probably bring life to it’s former own OS – Bada, that hasn’t had that much success. Intel, after developing MeeGo with Nokia, have been searching for another smartphone manufacturer willing to invest in their ideas. Samsung came up front thus Tizen was brought to life. Few month later and we have version 1.0 of the SDK for Tizen.
What makes this OS so special? Well, for starters it offers the best HTML5 support of any other OS on the market today. Second and foremost, due to the lack of apps that is a problem for any new operating system, it will be supporting a compatibility layer that will allow it to run apps developed for the other OS’s. It will probably not be able to run all the apps out there but still, it’s a great thing. Here is a video demoing how Android apps run on a Tizen tablet.
It’s certainly something to look forward to, isn’t it?
