Evolio is a brand from Eastern European nation Romania and you probably know that already, since we’re reviewed a bunch of their slates already. Now they have a new slate, from a different segment, a device called Tabby that’s meant for children. The Evolio Tabby is priced at $121, so it’s quite affordable.
For that we get a TFT 7 inch display with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, an ARM Cortex A13 single core 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage, as well as SD card slot. The slate runs Android 4.0 ICS and it has a special interface, customized for the little ones. Also on board we find WiFi b/g/n, mini USB, an audio jack and the ability to play 1080p video, also with support for mkv formats. There’s a 2 megapixel camera on board and a 0.7W speaker, taking care of the multimedia side.
The product packs a 2800 mAh battery, measures 16.5 mm in thickness and weighs 465 grams. Evolio Tabby is intended for kids between 2 and 10 years of age. There are several learning apps preinstalled and also some cute games for little ones. The tablet is available in Romania from January 21st and there’s a hands on video below.
