If you thought that sub $100 tablets only come from Asia and can only be seen there, well you can see a few units at CTIA 2013, the big tech event that’s taking place these days in USA. An interesting device is the Maxwest TAB-7155DC, also known as the Ippo Y88.

This product costs a mere $65 and comes in black, white, silver, red, blue or pink. It’s a 7 inch Jelly Bean slate with a 10 mm thick chassis and a weight of 187 grams, about the size of the Nokia Lumia 920. The screen it has on board supports a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and relies on LCD technology. Inside we’ve got 512 MB of RAM, an Infotmic IMAPx820 SoC (1 GHz dual core Cortex A5) and a Mali 400 GPU.

Maxwest’s tablet has no Bluetooth or GPS, but it does have a power/lock key, DC socket, microUSB port and mini HDMI and microSD. Access to the Play Store is granted and performance is decent, said the guys who did the hands on with the device. Viewing angles are still a bit poor and the acrylic cover is slightly prone to scratches.
