After receiving the invitation for the special ASUS event at MWC 2012, we now check out a teaser of the upcoming Padfone, also posted by ASUS. We’re expecting in Barcelona a redesigned Padfone, a tablet/phone combo that just like the Matroska Dolls video below has a nifty device inside another nifty device. The question is: why 1+1+1 and not 1+1?
It appears that the ASUS PadFone tablet will also get to use the TF201 dock from the Transformer Prime, so 3 parts will make a miraculous device, one that’s able to provide you with a tablet, netbook and handset. Under the motto “Divided we stand, together we rock” and “1+1+1= Endless possibilities” I can see an entire campaign based on that unified hardware and software ecosystem. We’ve been hearing about the PadFone for over a year now and its design and specs have changed a bit over time, but the basic idea is the same: a slate with a smartphone inside as its core.
The smartphone is supposed to feature a 4.3 inch AMOLED display and I’m guessing that dual core CPUs will be included here. They also throw in a camera, maybe 5 or 8MP, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. With the promised dock features and WebTop mode in Android 5.0 Jelly Bean, things are starting to look and sound even better, as I imagine the PadFone will fulfill each user’s needs.
