ASUS Padfone, the device that will debut at MWC 2012, as shown in our invite received recently now gets a new puzzle piece unveiled. I’m talking about its CPU, confirmed to be a Snapdragon S4 unit, according to people in the know. The device runs Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich, as you might already know, so that requires the phone part of the Padfone to give up physical buttons.
Keep in mind that when I say that the Snapdragon S4 will be included on the Padfone, I’m referring to the handset and if you must know the previous rumors mentioned the Nvidia Tegra 3 as the CPU of choice for the hybrid. The handset part of the new device is supposed to also support the ASUS Transformer keyboard dock, although I can’t help but wonder how that will unfold. As far as I know, the Padfone will require the crucial handset part to work, that will include the camera, CPU and extra storage.
That leads me to believe that the tablet part is a mere 10 inch screen extension, that adds a bunch of ports, some extra battery, more storage and maybe more connectivity and other such options. How much are you willing to pay to have that?
