ARM is the famous chipset company that has been so discussed over the past 2-3 years, because of the popularity of its solutions. In spite of generating some solid CPUs, gaming is still not on console level on tablets and phones, but that may change thanks to an acquisition of a company.
ARM bought 3D gaming specialist Geomerics, that works with high end graphics and makes games look as photo realistic as possible. They generate the proper shadows in an area and the fix the proper lighting in a gaming scene. Geomerics will serve as a subsidiary of ARM, but keep running independently.
The company has been involved with top notch games like Battlefield 3 and 4, Need for Speed Rivals, Eve Online and Medal of Honor: Warfighter. This means that future ARM-powered tablets will offer better graphics in games and photo realistic imaging. Electronic Arts is a Geomerics customer and they will probably create a FPS and NFS to push the standards of mobile gaming.
