Archos, the famous French tablet maker has introduced a new series of premium tablets, called the Platinum range. It includes quad core devices with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and appealing features. The Platinum range includes 3 tablet sizes: 8 inch, 9.7 inch and 11.6 inch.
Specs include quad core CPUs at 1.2 GHz, with 8 core GPUs and support for 1080p video decoding. There’s also 2 GB of RAM, front and back cameras, mini HDMI ports and microSD card slots. The Archos 80 Platinum is an 8 inch table t with a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution on an IPS screen. I have to say that the amount of RAM is impressive, here, especially for a lower cost slate. The 80 Platinum is coming this month, priced at $199.
Meanwhile, the 97 Platinum HD is a 9.7 inch tablet with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, packing an IPS screen and it’s 40% less expensive than the iPad, although it has a comparable display. This model is also coming this month, priced at $299. Finally, we’ve got the 116 Platinum, a 11.6 inch tablet with a Full HD IPS screen, priced at $349 and coming in April.
