French outfit Archos has decided to cancel the tablet Archos 94 Magnus, that stood out at MWC 2015 through its 256 GB storage. It appears that the distributor weren’t happy with the product and dealers wouldn’t have been able to sell it well.
The Magnus model has thus been canceled and it will never reach the shops. The main problem was the pricing, caused by such a high storage capacity. Archos intended to sell the product for 299 euros, but in the end the price could go as high as 350 euros. This device comes with a 720p screen with a 9.4 inch diagonal, a Rockchip RK3288 quad core 2 GHz processor, 1.5 GB of RAM and a 6400 mAh battery.
It’s clear that such midrange specs aren’t appealing enough when paying almost the equivalent of an iPad for a slate. With such cheap microSD cards and cloud storage solutions, a tablet with big internal memory is irrelevant now. We could be seeing a fire sale of the device, as Archos tries to get rid of stocks.
