Archos just unveiled officially a new tablet, the Archos 101 XS, a 10 inch device with Android 4.0 ICS on board and a dual core TI OMAP 4470. This is still a budget friendly device, priced at $400 and it’s coming in November, according to Archos. It also has a very interesting keyboard dock, also pictured here.
The keyboard dock is also used as a cover for the 1280 x 800 pixel display and this Coverboard is able to attach to the tablet’s body through magnets. There’s a dock mechanism for securing the device when you want to type. This Coverboards offers a full QWERTY keyboard layout, with Home, Back and recently open buttons for Android OS navigation. Archos said that the XS will support upgrades to Jelly Bean in October. Other key features of the device include 16GB of storage, a 1.3 megapixel camera with 720p capabilities and a 1.3 pound design.
The slate is 0.31 inch thick and apparently Archos is preparing several other new docks as well. For example, the Boombox speaker dock charges the Archos 101 XS tablet and offers 32 watts of music playback. There’s also the option of a Cradle dock with audio out ports and a pair of USB sockets for portable HDDs.
