According to some Taiwan-based supply chain makers, it seems that Apple and Samsung will ship over 60 milion tablets this year. More precisely, Apple is expected to ship between 80-90 milion units, while Samsung is expected to ship between 60-70 milion tablets.
The recent launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab/Note Pro 12.2, a 12.2-inch slate, is expected to make Apple accelerate the development of an large-size iPad. This new tablet from Apple may have a 12.9 inch display, and should be out on the market by the end of the third quarter of this year.
Also, we expect that Samsung will launch more lite versions of the Galaxy tablet line during this year, with prices starting from $129. The source said that Apple has asked its production partners and component suppliers to develop new models of 7.9 and 9.7-inch tablets.
