AMD is capitalizing on Intel’s recent struggles to experiment boldly, unveiling a groundbreaking processor with an integrated GPU set to debut in the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet at CES 2025. This marks a significant leap in portable computing power, positioning AMD and ASUS at the forefront of innovation.
Last summer, an ASUS engineer hinted, half-jokingly, that the company was working on “the most powerful tablet ever made.” Now, that claim is taking shape with the ROG Flow Z13, powered by AMD’s Strix Halo CPU, boasting 80 watts dedicated to GPU power alone.
According to VideoCardz, which recently made waves with leaks about NVIDIA’s RTX 5000 series, the tablet will feature the AMD Ryzen AI Max 395 Plus, a Zen 5 CPU paired with Radeon 8060S graphics. With 16 Zen 5 cores and 40 GPU compute units, this chip supports AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture, delivering unparalleled performance for a portable device. This processor outclasses even the Ryzen AI 9 HX 375, which offers only 16 GPU units, making the 395 Plus AMD’s fastest portable chip to date.
The Strix Halo/AI Max lineup will include several variants:
– AI Max 390, AI Max 385, and AI Max 380.
– These models will range from 6-core CPUs with 16 GPU compute units to configurations boasting up to 40 GPU units.

The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 is no ordinary tablet. It will run Windows 11 and pack cutting-edge hardware, including:
