The list of companies interested in buying RIM now also includes Amazon, that apparently made an offer a while ago, with Reuters reporting that a partnership deal is still on the table. Research in Motion has been having quite a lot of trouble lately, including drunken officials getting arrested on a plane, PlayBook tablets getting stolen in the USA and losing the trademark for BlackBerry BBX OS.
Now, the company is getting offers if we’re to believe recent speculations, with Nokia + Microsoft offer looking like the best one, although no figures have been mentioned. Amazon wants to take over this Canadian giant, but for now the BlackBerry maker wants to solve its problems and clear its future, before making any risky decision. Amazon is having a ball right now, thanks to the impressive projected sales of millions of Kindle Fire units in the upcoming months, but they could sure use the appealing BBX OS, now called BlackBerry 10.
Right now Amazon and RIM are discussing “expanding their commercial ties”, including a service that makes Amazon’s music catalog available to BlackBerry owners. Said service took off last year, but there’s room for improvement. Imagine the BlackBerrry experience and Messenger all across the Kindle ecosystem… appealing? Maybe…
