Alcatel just debuted a new tablet in India, the Alcatel POP4 10 4G LTE model, that comes priced at $172. The slate is available with educational apps and it stands out through the 4G LTE support of course. Showcased at CES 2018 last month, the product is available locally via a Flipkart partnership.
The partnership has the aim of capturing the entry level tablet segment in India, apparently. This is a device aimed at students who can install easy learning apps and books on their slates and not be forced to carry around bulky laptops. Premium design and high performance are promised here, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, since it’s a sub $200 device in the end.
The tablet packs a 10.1 inch Full HD screen and uses an octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 CPU, the kind you’d find on a Nokia 6. Also on board we have 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage and 5 GB of one touch cloud storage. The screen is laminated for improved sunlight visibility and the OS of choice is Android, with preinstalled educational apps and NCERT books from Class 1 to 12 in English, Hindi and Urdu.
The Alcatel POP4 10 measures 7.95 mm in thickness, comes with a metal body and offers a 2 megapixel front camera. There’s a 5830 mAh battery in the mix, which offers up to 30 hours of talk time. The tablet also has dual speakers tuned by Waves Maxx Audio.
