Lenovo has officially launched the Legion Y700 AI (2026) in China, packing flagship smartphone hardware into one of the smallest gaming tablets on the market. The new model combines an 8.4-inch 165Hz OLED display with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 power, up to 24GB of RAM and, for the first time in the series, 5G connectivity with dual SIM support.
The compact format remains one of the Y700’s biggest selling points. Lenovo uses an 8.4-inch OLED panel with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, variable refresh rate of up to 165Hz, Dolby Vision and 3840Hz PWM dimming. Peak brightness can reach 4,000 nits in limited areas. Despite its high-end hardware, the tablet measures only 6.5mm thick and weighs 298 grams, making it considerably easier to hold during longer gaming sessions than the increasingly common 12- and 13-inch Android tablets.
Performance comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, accompanied by LPDDR5T RAM and UFS 4.1 Pro storage. Lenovo offers 12GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB and a top-end 24GB/1TB configuration, while microSD expansion of up to 2TB is also supported. The company claims an AnTuTu score of 4.58 million points and has installed a large 15,000mm² vapor chamber to keep temperatures under control. Gaming features also include dual X-axis vibration motors, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers and two USB-C ports, including one with DisplayPort video output.
Perhaps the most useful upgrade is 5G connectivity. The Legion Y700 AI supports dual SIM cards, mobile data and voice calls, effectively allowing it to operate independently of a smartphone. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are included as well. Power comes from a 7,470mAh battery with 68W fast charging, while photography duties are handled by a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera.
The Lenovo Legion Y700 AI is already available in China, starting at 5,499 yuan, or roughly $818, for the 12GB/256GB version. The 16GB/512GB model costs 6,499 yuan (around $967), while the extreme 24GB/1TB configuration reaches 8,499 yuan (about $1,264). It’s certainly expensive for an 8-inch Android tablet, but there are few direct rivals combining this compact form factor with flagship silicon, serious cooling and standalone 5G connectivity.
