ASUS usually keeps its tablet launches for Computex and some for IFA, but we may see new models sooner than expected. For example, a mystery ASUS slate has just leaked via GFXBench and it lists some of its features, including the fact that it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The mystery slate has a 9.6 inch 2048 x 1536 pixel screen and may well be a rival for the future iPads. It’s also listed with a dodeca core chipset, clocked at 2.1 GHz. This 12 core CPU has an Imagination Technlogies PowerVR Rogue GX6250 GPU (that’s a mouthful), as well as 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. A 7 MP back camera is listed, possibly an 8 MP shooter in real life, plus a 4.7 MP front cam.
Specs could change once the device goes official and it’s interesting to see a 12 core chip from MediaTek on an ASUS tablet. The two have worked together before, but not on tablets. This feels like an upper midrange device, which may end up as a ZenPad maybe. We expect a debut at Computex 2017, the latest and perhaps a brand new Zen UI on top.
