It’s time for another classic among devices, the Galaxy Tab S to start receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The story of the most respected Sammy slates began two years ago, when finally the Tab S models were able to fight the iPads on battery and design turf.
Samsung didn’t say when Marshmallow is coming, but confirmation has been offered to the likes of Sammobile for example. “The near future” is the best timeline we have so far and it’s probably going to be a Q3 release, or maybe an August one. It’s very important to mention that the OG Tab S may only receive Marshmallow as a last update and not Android Nougat in the future.
The update will implement Doze on the tablets, for extra battery optimization when it comes to app usage, as well as Google Now on tap, improved permission management and the latest security fixes. Several menu design traits may also be changed and the look of the icons too.
