Xiaomi is certainly no stranger to sales records, managing to move its handsets very fast after launching them, but now their latest tablet is setting records. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 was put on sale yesterday at 10 am and it took less than a minute for the 64 GB model to be sold out.

The Chinese company offers this model in two versions: 64 GB and 16 GB and fans have been waiting for a month to get their hands on the product. Worry not, as the 16 GB model also went out of stock pretty fast. The Mi Pad 2 is seen by many as the most appealing Android tablet right now, with a powerful Intel Atom X5 processor, 2 GB of RAM and an 8 megapixel back shooter.

There’s a 7.9 inch screen on board with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution and a 5 MP front camera too. The 16 GB version of the device goes for $153, while the 64 GB model goes for $200, both very affordable prices. It remains to be seen if Xiaomi produced too few units of the device, or if the public really was excited about the slate and went all out to get it.

Expect a restock in January.
