Zen UI is one of our favourite interfaces in the Android universe, that and HTC Sense, because after all they’re not very different. Only the latest ASUS phones and tablets get this UI, but starting today some older models will get it as well, via updates. ASUS PadFone 2 is one of them.
The rollout of the Android 4.4 software for this device has started and it brings Zen UI 1.1 to PadFone 2 (A68) users in the process. You can download the software you need and get instructions right here. Android 4.4 update for PadFone 2 needs manual installation and involves a factory reset, meaning you will lose all your data on the device, so you’d better back it up.
The update takes up 924.72 MB and it’s only available manually. The firmware update cannot do SKU conversion and downgrade version, so the wrong SKU may negatively affect your device, that’s why you need the proper software for your SKU version. There’s no changelog to show you right now, but I’m pretty sure the performance and the battery life of the PadFone 2 will be enhanced, while the UI will certainly look better. Zen UI implements a flat look, new icons and widgets and the Do it Later and What’s Next functions, that gather your reminders, tasks, weather, calendar and such in one place.
