Ever since Google and Nestle partnered up for the sake of KitKat, a bunch of promotions and competitions spawned by the chocolate bar brand have appeared. Android fans in India were also treated with a challenge of this sort, that had the Nexus 7 2013 as the prize. Sadly, the winners somehow got the 2012 Nexus 7 sent to them in the end…

Winners of the Nexus 7 promotion in every country were given the Nexus 7 2013 and the prizes shipped many weeks ago. However, in India, after a delay, the winners found the old tablet in their packages. Several Indian sites have already pulled the promo materials used by KitKat India, that seemed to indicate the prize being the new Nexus 7.

A Facebook Group regarding this issue has already been created and Indian users are trying to get in touch with KitKat and solve the problem. Interestingly enough, the official Twitter account of KitKat India argues that the prize was “the all new Nexus 7 tablet”, that at the time of the contest, September 2013 was the 2012 model. The 2013 unit launched in November in India. Pretty bad excuse, right?
