ASUS introduce today at IFA 2013 a new ultraportable computer with Windows 8, the ASUS Transformer Book Trio, that can be used in 3 different ways. The product is at the same time a tablet, a notebook and a desktop.
The tablet part packs an 11.6 inch display and the keyboard part is pretty much as powerful as a computer. If you connect together the 11.6 inch tablet and the keyboard, you’ll get a fully functional portable Windows 8 notebook. If you detach them you’re left with an Android slate, since the keyboard part has the components of a desktop PC and can be hooked up to a display.
The keyboard packs inside an Intel Haswell processor, with support for up to a Core i7 chip, Intel HD 4400 graphics, 4 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of hard drive. There’s WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and two USB 3.0 ports available, as well as a mini DisplayPort, micro HDMI and an audio jack. We’ve got stereo speakers in the PC station and a 33 Whr battery.
The tablet part packs an 11.6 inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display with 10 point multitouch and an Intel Atom Clover Trail CPU, as well as 2 GB of RAM and 4 MP camera. It has a front 720p camera and between 16 and 64 GB of storage. Together, the devices squeeze out 13 hours of battery life.
