The mobile market has seen a growth that was not even anticipated a few years ago and lately it seems that almost any manufacturer wants to invest in making at least one such device. The Android OS seems to be the most widespread choice for the hardware manufacturers and the new trend in terms of screen sizes is 7-inches or so.
The most popular device in the 7-inch tablet category is without a doubt the Asus manufactured Google Nexus 7. It is practically the device that started this trend, with its sales on the rise to 19.5 million units shipped only this year, from January to March. And that is not even the best part, as rumors state that already a second generation Nexus 7 tablet is on its way, made by Asus and powered by a Qualcomm performance chipset.
Asus is still in front when it comes to the 7-inches category in general, offering among others the VIA Technologies powered MeMO Pad ME172V tablet, going for about $180. Then there is the Acer B1, another highly competitive product also awaiting its second gen release and powered by a Mediatek chip. Intel is also promoting its platform with the Ramos W32 and Coby MID1054 tablets for China, also in the mentioned category. Thus this year we are likely to see announced a lot of these 7-inch wonders at very attractive prices, with the competition in constant rise.
