Black Friday came and went this year, with a frantic shopping spree to accompany it and tablets were probably some of the most desired items in this period. It appears that one of them in particular was a bit of a surprising hit: Amazon Kindle Fire. It broke a few records apparently, with Amazon saying that the Kindle Fire reached sales up to 3 times the previous record set…

Amazon offered the basic Kindle Fire at just 99 quid, creating very much hype in the UK, while the US store had similar reactions. Customers purchases more than 3 times as many Kindle devices on Black Friday than on any other day in the history of Amazon.co.uk. The offer runs until midnight Monday, 26th November, so you can snap one up in the following hours. The brand new Kindle Fire, the one that usually retails for 129 quid offers Amazon’s customers access to over 22 million movies, TV shows, songs, applications and games, as well as books and magazines.

We’re in the process of putting the finishing touches on our own Kindle Fire HD review and I have to say we’re not at all impressed by this product. The only way we can see it succeed, at least in countries without solid Amazon support is some hacking, rooting and treating it like the… HP TouchPad if you want. Would be good if we had some numbers to go with that “many units” claim…
