Don’t fret if you haven’t heard about Ramos, since the Chinese manufacturer is not that famous, but they’re able to make pretty good devices, like the MID pictured below. This device runs Android and the folks of Shanzhaiben.com managed to get their hands on the W7 prototype of the MID and get all the needed details.
W7 is based on Google Android and it features the Rockchip RK2808 chipset, plus it sports a 4.8 inch 800 x 480 pixel touchscreen display, 1080p video and WiFi. The tests of the prototype have revealed that Ramos is able to play web-based FLV video, which is great for YouTube users. Too bad that this playback is only available via a plugin implementation, not the browser.
As far as tests have shown, the WiFi on this device is pretty stable, but still the perfomance is suffering because of the metal backing. The USB port and card reader weren’t usable on this unit and if you’re wondering about the price, know that Ramos W7 should retail for $190, in the 8GB version and $234, for the 16GB one. Expect it in stores in November.
