Google launched just hours ago a new Chrome OS-based notebook, priced at $249 and made by Samsung. This is a 11.6 inch Chromebook, that’s ARM based and fanless and measures just 0.8 inches in thickness and weighs only 2.43 pounds, keeping it on the light side. It offers 6.5 hours of battery life and boots in under 10 seconds.
The device supports 1080p video playback and preorders start today on Amazon and PC World. The laptop also integrates Google Now and uses Google Drive, too. Plus there’s 100 GB of free storage for 2 years. Google also intend to sell this product via the Play Store and feature it at Best Buy and the likes. If you want specs, know that the new Chromebook offers a dual core A15 Samsung Exynos 5 Dual SoC, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built in flash storage. WiFi and Bluetooth are also here and the screen supports a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.
There’s also a USB 3.0 port on board, a USB 2.0 socket and an SD card slot. Samsung’s new Chromebook offers smooth scrolling thanks to a hardware accelerated user interface. There’s also a special Chrome QWERTY keyboard included and you can have a glimpse at the product in the video below.
