At the end of the current month Windows 8 will debut with a bunch of fresh tablets, that apparently include an usual Panasonic model, the ultrabook hybrid that you see below. This device was unveiled at CEATEC 2012, where it was showcased for all bloggers and editors to see.
The Panasonic AX Series Ultrabook is a foldable hybrid that will arrive in Japanese stores later this month. It packs a 11.6 inch touch display with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, plus two USB 3.0 ports on the right side and a HDMI socket. On the other side we get an SD card reader, Ethernet, power port, microphone and audio jack. The hinge seems to be solid, or so say the people who have played with the gadget. The keyboard feels similar to the ones on business laptops, so that’s good news.
The same keyboard is well spaced and on board the folks of Engadget played with the Japanese version of Windows 8, that felt responsive in both tablet and notebook mode. AX Series from Panasonic hits Japan on October 26th in 3 different versions, with the basic one being an Intel Core i5 unit with 1.7 GHz CPU, but you can also opt for a Core i7 at 1.9 GHz. 4 GB of memory and an 128 GB SSD are included as well.
