Skytex SkyPad Alpha 2 is a very cheap tablet with Android and a 7 inch display, that’s supposed to run Android 4.0. The device ships with Gingerbread, but Skytex already released a beta version of ICS for it. This slate also features a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and a bunch more specs, detailed below.

The price of $140 makes this one of the most affordable Android 4.0 tablets on the market. Other stuff you need to know is that this gadget supports a 800 x 480 pixel resolution and its display is a 5 point multitouch unit, not quite top notch nowadays. Amazon is the retailer selling this device for the above mentioned price and you even get a HDMI 1.4 port in the mix, 1080p HD video playback and stereoscopic 3D video playback via external display. Other feats include WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and a 3000 mAh battery with enough juice for about 6 hours of functioning time.

Skytex intends to launch the official Android 4.0 update in a couple of weeks and the beta software is available right now, if you want it, but it’s got bugs and apps such as Flash Player, Netflix and some more simply don’t work. The good thing is that the beta software includes Android Market access.
