Last week the craziness of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates to tablets started with the Motorola Xoom and ASUS Transformer Prime being privileged units. We’ve heard that the original Transformer tablet was also headed for a similar update, but nothing happened… Now the official ASUS Facebook account is saying that Google has to approve the update and everything will be OK.
Once the approval is done, the update will be pushed to the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer owners. It’s nice to see that a company actually cares about its customers and keeps them in the know when it comes to future updates and possible delays. I guess that since ASUS sold quite a bunch of Transformer units last summer, Google has all the reason to speed things up and offer ICS ASAP to the tablet owners. Let me remind you that these owners were privileged, since Honeycomb 3.2 arrived as a premiere for all tablets on the Transformer, if I’m not mistaking.
HTC and Samsung should really follow ASUS and see how it’s done, since I’m predicting that we’re in for a long wait when it comes to ICS updates for their devices… In other news, I’m curious if all the Motorola Xoom owners got their Android 4.0 updates or not this weekend. Any idea?
