We’ve been hearing about the ASUS PadFone tablet/phone combo for almost year now, but the product has been postponed a bunch of times till now, so we’re headed to the end of CES without a showcasing of the device. Now we learn that we’ll see the slate and handset at Mobile World Congress 2012, taking place in Barcelona next month.
ASUS Padfone will most likely feature a Tegra 3 quad core processor, although that hasn’t been confirmed just yet. The lucky guys of netbooknews.com had some quality time with the device recently and they’re pleased with Android 4.0 and the customizations on the unit. There’s also a Padstation they mentioned, a tablet dock for the handset, that will be compatible with the original docking station of the ASUS Transformer.
Android 4.0 includes among the customizations a dedicated page for Padfone apps, but everything we have for you right now is in test phase and beta versions. Let me remind you what the Padfone is about: a smartphone that’s inserted into a tablet and acts as its “brain”. The phone sports a 4.3 inch display, while the tablet uses a 10.1 inch display and we also get HDMI, Bluetooth 3.0, 16GB of internal memory, a 5 megapixel camera, a front camera with video calling capability and a couple more features that have yet to be unveiled.
