For the people who are eagerly awaiting for Ice Cream Sandwich to arrive on the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S, we have bad news… Samsung just said that we’ll never have ICS on these devices. Of course, there’s always the option to resort to a custom ROM with Android 4.0 on board, with the usual risks and glitches.
The reason Samsung mentions is that the TouchWiz skin is harder to implement in a newer version on these slates. Video conferencing software and extra widgets will also have some problems, as well as carrier software and location, all of those making life hard for Samsung and for any potential update. Of course, the usual RAM and ROM lacks are mentioned, as expected. Thus, we say goodbye to the Galaxy S and Tab for now, as far as Android compatibility is concerned in the latest gen OS…
As I said you can use those Custom ROMs and the guys behind them are doing solid work at the moment, so rest easy. As soon as I find some proof of a ROM on a Galaxy Tab slate I’ll show it to you and we’ll all rejoice…
