We’ve been hearing about the $99 Nexus 7 for many months now and it appears that this speculation may end up generating a real device. However, the price may be different than the rumors. Now it turns out that you may have to pay between $129 and $149 for the new Nexus tablet.
ASUS is supposed to be using China’s O-Film Tech to produce touchscreens for the new tablet and they will also use glass-film-film technology. ASUS and Google intend to save some money on the making process of the newcomer. Thus, the resulting price of $129 to $149, since they may actually want to turn a profit this time. The $99 price tag sounded like a killer and it had a psychological factor, generated by those numbers, but $129 is not that bad after all.
The new Nexus 7 is also supposed to be thinner and it may be released in the first quarter of 2013. We could get to see it at MWC or CES 2013 and I wonder if the CPU will be replaced with an Intel or “Wondermedia” one. What do you think?
