As if a device branded Giant Panda wasn’t funny enough, it’s also called Newman, evoking memories of the creepy Seinfeld character. Anyway, this is the Newman Giant Panda, a 5.3 inch Android phone, or better said a phablet, although it’s kind of not, since it lacks a stylus.
Newman has started promoting this product on the famous Chinese E-commerce site Tababo and we’re dealing here with a 5.3 inch qHD slate with black front and white rear. It’s powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core MT689 processor and also uses 1 GB of RAM. The newcomer has a 2 megapixel front camera and an 8 megapixel rear cam, plus it runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The pricing of this model in China is supposed to be $211, but once international resellers get a hold of it, expect something in the range of $260. The design is pretty average, with 3 capacitive buttons below the display and the typical rectangle with rounded corners as form factor.
