You might be aware of the fact that the Indian government was involved in the creation of a very cheap tablet, that started selling for as low as $35.This price applies to students and originally the product was meant to be priced at $65.

At first sight this looks like a very low end offering, but in the end VentureBeat agreed that the product is actually decent. Aakash comes with Android 2.2 Froyo and a modest 366 MHz processor, plus a resistive 800 x 400 pixel touchscreen display. The device is also pretty thick and it comes with full size USB ports, compatible with a mouse and keyboard.

This slate is designed with children experience in mind, so it aims at teaching the young ones how to use the web. Sadly, there’s no Google apps or Android Market support, but that was expected considering the price tag. This is a 7 inch tablet that honestly is pretty ugly, but for its purpose it’s actually very decent. If this ever makes it out of India, you’ll have to pay $70 for it… Is it worth it? Maybe for the kids…
