A fresh leak of the Xperia Z Ultra has shown us that we could see much more than just another phablet made by a big company. It appears that the device will be waterproof and maybe even include a new generation of IGZO display technology.
From what I know, Sharp owns that tech, so it will be interesting to see how Sony uses it. ePrice is the author of the leak and they’re a Chinese online retailer, that offers smartphones and other gadgets. They claim that the Xperia Z Ultra is both IP55 and IP58 certified, meaning it’s waterproof like the Xperia Z, apparently the best selling phone from Sony right now.
For those of you who don’t know, the Xperia Z Ultra is meant to debut in a special event held by Sony on July 4th. It’s strange to see the confirmation of the waterproof ability, considering we saw a press invitation for the launch of the device and it seemed to show an exposed audio jack. ePrice also lists this 6.44 inch phablet with 2 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot and a Triluminos display. Triluminos and IGZO? Now that sounds hot!
