And here’s the talk about the Windows on ARM tablets again… Windows 8 is not even out yet and I’ve heard that we should expect its ARM tablet version in 2013 and already there are talks about device makers from this segment. Lenovo and Toshiba are among the most interested, having already planned to outsource production to Quanta Computer, at least when it comes to Windows on ARM units.

Industry sources are the usual ones with the information here and we tend to believe them. Windows on ARM tablets are expected on the market in the first quarter of 2013, if everything goes well. Lenovo is playing on two sides of the barricade here, since they’re also teaming up with Intel to build a bunch of tablets and smartphones, with Medfield on board and some Clover Trail-W love later on this year. Lenovo also has that interesting Yoga hybrid in its portofolio, a prototype shown at CES 2012 and using Windows 8.

I’ve heard that Lenovo wants to compete with Acer and ASUS on the same level and manifest its power in the segment of ultrabooks and tablets, just like its rivals. Will they be able to do it? And what about Toshiba? I can’t really see how they’ll start to matter on the slate market…
